A typical Falsetto Teeth song is far from typical. Instead, it’s like going on a road trip without a map while your weird friend with ADD spins through the radio dial. Between the jarring transitions are pop melodies, snippets of jazz, and blasts of noise. And somehow, it all makes sense.

Musical comparisons aren’t easy; strains of Naked City, Nino Rota, Cardiacs, Melt Banana, and Nels Cline all seem to be present. But the non-musical influences Falsetto Teeth cite might explain them better: Alejandro Jodorowsky, Monty Python, the Marx Brothers, Salvador Dali, and Ren and Stimpy. A little slapstick, a little menace, and a whole lot of the unexpected.

Falsetto Teeth caught the ear of Ebola Records founder Ego Plum during a set at Old Town Pub in Pasadena, CA. One song was all it took to convince him that they were prime Ebola material. Giraffes on Horseback Salad was recorded by Plum in his home studio and released on Ebola Music Records on June 25, 2010.
